A tried and trusted home remedy

Introducing the Beurer SI40 Steam Inhaler.

The history of steam therapy dates back to Greek and Roman times and in 1865 Dr Nelson invented his 'new and improved' ceramic inhaler. This double-valved device was designed for steam inhalations - inhaling vapours to clear the body of respiratory ailments. It’s certainly is a tried and trusted home remedy your granny would recommend, who can remember suffering with a winter cold or cough and sweating under the old bowl and towel!

Steam therapy and COPD

Our climate can dry out the mucous membranes in your airways. If you have a lung condition you may notice your symptoms worsening in cold or dry air. Breathing in air pollution, cigarette smoke, and other toxins can also damage your lungs. A small study involving people with COPD found that steam therapy led to significantly lower heart rates and respiratory rates bringing temporary relief. Steam therapy adds warmth and moisture to the air, which may improve breathing and help loosen mucus inside your airways and lungs.

Colds and flu

A stuffy nose is triggered by inflammation in the blood vessels of the sinuses. The blood vessels can become irritated because of a cold or a sinus infection. An early morning cough, problems with catarrh and sticky phlegm can all make us feel short of breath and exhausted. Steam inhalation is considered a safe home remedy if done correctly. Breathing in moist, warm steam may help ease feelings of irritation and swollen blood vessels in the nasal passages. The moisture may also help thin the mucus in your sinuses, which allows them to empty more easily. This can allow your breathing to return to normal, at least for a short period of time.

Safe and stress free

The Beurer SI40 Steam Inhaler makes steam inhalation safe and stress free.

Safe, because with the SI40 the hot water is enclosed in a water heater tank, this means it cannot easily be spilled onto your skin. You won’t need a kettle either because the vaporiser heats the water in approximately 2 minutes. A variable steam regulator holds the vapour at a constant temperature so you can be sure of a steady stream of warm, moist air. The adjustable slider control regulates the amount of steam produced and the flexible mask which covers your mouth and nose ensures that your treatment is comfortable.

Safe, because the Beurer Steam Inhaler is easily cleaned preventing reinfection and because it has an automatic cut out after 10 minutes which is considered the optimum treatment time. It is also fitted with a thermal fuse which prevents overheating. Steam treatments can be even more effective when used along with plant oils such as eucalyptus or Olbas oil and the the Beurer SI40 has an aroma container so you can plan your therapy to be personal to you.
